feelin' blue with revlon whimsical

Hello hello!

I love Halloween. And fall. Especially Halloween though. So, needless to say, my nails usually coordinate with the spirit of this month, but I thought I should brighten my nails up for a few days with something fun!
I decided to go with Revlon Whimsical over China Glaze For Audrey.

Yeah, I have no idea what the dent is on my ring finger but whatever. This was two coats of Whimsical over one coat of For Audrey.
My first experience with Whimsical was horrible. I was in a rush and layered it over white. It looked nasty and it didn't get a proper dry so it smudged and uck, it was a mess. This time it was a sucess though!

So, do y'all like?
I do :)
See y'all next time!

long time no see

Hello everyone!

I know it's been awhile since I've posted. May was a month cram filled to the brim with things to do. Every weekend was filled and the weeks simply left me reeling to prepare for the next. I'm not complaining though, I made wonderful memories and I ended an important stage of my life. Once summer rolled around, I got more hours at work and I wanted to play just as much (LOL). Needless to say, my blog was left behind. I still kept up with following other blogs, I still (tried not to but did) buy nail polish, and I still had and have stuff I've want to share. So, I'm back! Kinda.

School has to be my main priority. ( BOOO ): ! ) 'nough said.
I'm not super artisitic. I love science and how things work. I often will look at my polish collection and think "oh this will look great together" and no. Just no. Then, I'll have a polish on and I sit and sit... and sit... and sit and sit and try to decide to describe it. My mind just thinks "pretty... purple... shimmery". As much as I would like to have time to test out every polish that catches my eye and write dazzling descriptions, I just don't have time to. On my previous posts, I spent a lot of time trying to describe the color, formular, and application and it just wasn't my cup of tea.

SO, on to happier days!
I've decided to start posting again when time allows. From now on they will be shorter, and more pictures than words. I'll still write a little about what I did, but I'll leave the super, indepth descriptions to google ;)
I hope anyone who does happen to keep up with my little spot of the internet doesn't mind and I hope this allows me to keep my blog active and fun for you and me, and less like a chore.
Thanks for sticking with me!
Erin :)

OPI Russian Navy

Hello hello!

Today I have the color my mom get me for Easter, Russian Navy! It isn't very Easter-esqu but I still love it!

This polish is pretty old and is a part of OPI's core collection. This color is a great deep navy. What makes it stand out from the rest, is the magenta shimmer that shines in the navy base. It is so lovely! In the sun, this polish comes to life! The only thing that made me sad about this polish was that when you look at the bottle, you see so much purple shimmer yet, not nearly as much shimmer shows on the nails. The polish is still a stunner though. Check it out!

see all that purple shimmer in the bottle? drooool.

These pictures don't do the polish nearly as much justice as they could. This polish is a winner if you want a pretty navy though! What do you guys think?

Nicole by OPI Purple Yourself Together

Hello hello!
Today I have a color that is super cayute! It's called Purple Yourself Together by Nicole by OPI. It's a Target exclusive and you should definitely check it out if you get a chance!

Application was great! It went on in three lovely coats. I actually ended up wearing this polish for almost a week and all the way through Easter! I had almost no chips, just tip wear for the first few days which was awesome. The color is a light purple, lilac even, and it is filled with a rich gold shimmer! It's HOT. Being a purple fan, anything purple and remotely interesting becomes loved and this one was no exception. Check it out!

All of these were taken in artificial lighting. Look at all of that shimmah! Yum yum.

Sorry my cuticles are not pretty. :'(

So what do you guys think? Is this one a winner or what? This polish is available at Target and has been since March so don't miss out! Also, check out the other three polishes in this collection, they're cute too and are calling my name! I might just have to grab another.

Also, I'm happy I'm starting to get a few followers. (more than 1 hahaha)
If you like what you see, I would love to hear about it so please feel free to comment and let me know!
Also, one of my newest followers, Nails By Diana is having a giveaway. You should check it out here and check out her stuff!

Polka Dot Stamping!

Hey hey hey!

Today I have a fun manicure for you guys.

I know there's a chippy on my index finger):

For the base coat, I used China Glaze Sweet Hook. For the polka dots I used China Glaze For Audrey and Bundle Monder plate BM19.

I know my pinky sucks. I did my best! I'm proud I even got this to work semi-sorta! Stamping is still not a super strong point with me. I think the dots would have turned out fuller with a thicker polish, but I still like it!

The inspiration behind this manicure? Well, I love Sweet Hook. It's such a cute lavender creme. Then, I asked a friend to pick a color and he said green. I froze... and then I thought hmm... For Audrey is a blue... with a green tint right? Right! And, wa-la!

Nails Inc. Connaught Square Swatch

Hello once again!
I apologize for my temporary hiatus. Unfortunately I've been having a bad week, but what do you do? In my opinion life is a cycle. Bad things happen so you don't take the good things for granted. Today I comforted myself by buying a new polish and hanging out with some old friends. The polish I got was Purple Yourself Together by Nicole by OPI. It's a target exclusive and I love it! I just painted it on my toes :)

However, today that is not what I am showing you guys! Today I have a polish by Nails Inc., Connaught Square. It is a gorgeous 3D glitter. The base is primarily a bunch of blue glitters and then mixed with that is a bunch of larger, purple glitters. Application is rough and gritty, but it's supposed to be 3D, so that adds to the texture. It had pretty good coverage, but was not opaque in some spots so I used three coats. Check it out!

This polish was definitely a beast to take off. I am not a huge fan of glitters simply because of the extra work it takes to take it off, but I would say this color is worth it. I always caught myself staring at my nails!

China Glaze Fast Track && butter LONDON Tart With A Hart

Hi!
Today I have a manicure using two different colors, Fast Track by China Glaze and Tart With A Hart by butter London.

Fast Track is a part of the Hunger Games collection. It's a beige filled with tons of gold microglitter! It was surprisingly opaque in two coats and application was amazing. It was much better than others in the collection, but then again... it wasn't one of the metallic ones. None the less, it was still a great neutral color!

Tart With A Hart was part of the 2011 holiday collection. It's a semi-clear base filled with tons and tons of gold microglitter. Also, it has bigger glitters that shine a bunch of different colors when they hit the light. ALSO, if you look super close, there's even black microglitter in it! This one is a stunner for sure. When we saw it at Nordstroms, we weren't sure if it would be opaque or not, so my sister sacrificed her manicure and we tested it out. By three coats, Tart With A Hart worked great alone! It's a very nice glitter! Application was good for a glitter and it was a little gritty, but it was nothing a top coat can't fix.

Take a look!

Artificial Lighting
Next, I used some scotch tape to put little triangles of Tart With A Hart on the nails with Fast Track.

Next time I do something with Tart With A Hart, I'll probably pair it with a different color. Maybe pink? But nonetheless the overall look was good enough for me and I got a lot of compliments on it!
