newspaper nails

This is my first attempt at newspaper nails. It did not go as hoped, but I still think it is pretty cool and I will definitely try it again in the future!

Steps:
1. paint your nails a base color. I chose OPI's Alpine Snow for two reasons: one being it's a nice simple white, two being I did not have an off white the color of newspaper.
2. dip your nails in something that is alcohol based. I used rubbing alcohol. However, I've heard vodka works really well.
3. press a strip of newspaper onto your nail. obvious statement: make sure it's big enough to cover your nail. hold it on to your nail for about 15 seconds.
4. pull the newspaper off slowly and wa-la !
5. top coat is HIGHLY recommended. without top coat, the newspaper ink will slowly but surely rub off.

Random: if you're like me, have some fun with it and look for words that you like. for example, the word Texas is on my middle finger because.... I like Texas.
